Admission Process - 2009

Fees Structure

Admission Calender :

VAT-III Test Date :- Mar 29, 2009
Interview Dates :- April 9 to 12, 2009
Pre-MBA Program Classes (English Training) :- July 09, 2009 to Aug 08, 2009
Commencement of Classes :- July 09,2009

Eligibility Criteria :

Graduation (Any discipline /Any Medium)

Final year degree students awaiting results.

Applicants who have completed their graduation on a one-time sitting basis or on a 2-year basis are not eligible for admission into the postgraduate program.

Students in their final year bachelor's degree program are also eligible to apply, provided they complete their graduation requirements including practical examinations/viva assignments before Institute Begin. Such applicants will have to produce a certificate to that effect at the time of admission. The admission of applicants will, however, remain provisional until they produce mark sheets and a degree certificate establishing their eligibility. The last date for submitting the proof of graduation transcripts is December 10, 2009, failing which the provisional admission will automatically stand cancelled.

Admission Criteria :

The selection of applicants is made through Admission Test and Personnel Interview.

VIIM Admission Test (VAT): Students seeking admission are required to submit the completed application form at VIIM Campus or at Defined VIIM Information Centre. They are required to appear for VAT followed by an interview. VAT is based on GMAT pattern with multiple choice questions and tests the applicant's abilities in quantitative techniques, data adequacy, vocabulary and analytical reasoning.VAT will be conducted at all INC Campuses. Exemption from Admission Test: Those applicants who have valid GMAT/CAT 2008/ XAT 2009 scores/MAT 2009 Score are exempted from Admission Test. They can appear for interview directly.

Interview :

The applicants shortlisted in VAT will have to go through interviews at the campus where they seek admission. The interview panel will focus on testing the attitude, aptitude and aspiration of the candidates.

Original certificates should be produced for verification at the time of interview along with one photocopy. The original certificates will be returned after verification.

The admission decision will be communicated after the interview process. All the selected candidates will be required to pay the admission fee as per the admission calendar.

Past Academic Record :

While evaluating applicants for admission into the MBA Program, due consideration is given to the applicant's past academic achievements. Apart from the marks/CGPA secured, various academic achievements and honors obtained by the applicant like professional and postgraduate qualifications will also be considered.

Pre-MBA Program (English Training) :

To support better understanding and learning during the MBA Program. English Pronunciation classes, Video Lecture, Audio lecture etc. (Everyday 2-3Hrs)

Eligibility
A Graduate from any discipline is eligible to apply.Students appearing for their Final Year /Semester examinations this year also can apply.

Selection
All eligible candidates will have to appear for a Written Examination (in GCET Format), Group Task, Subject Interview and Personal Interview.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

For Postgraduate & Doctorate Programs

To be admitted into a Master Degree program, students must hold an appropriate KIUST Bachelor Degree or hold an appropriate recognized Bachelor Degree from another college/university. Applicants without a Bachelor Degree but with a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma qualification who feel they can benefit from the course can also apply. Students enrolling for a Master Degree in the areas of Engineering, Health Sciences, Theology and Religion must have a Bachelor Degree in the area. However, applicants without a Bachelor Degree in the area but with a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma qualification in the area who feel they can benefit from the course can apply to be considered for admission.

To be admitted into a Doctorate Degree program, students must hold an appropriate KIUST Bachelor Degree (with Honours) or hold an appropriate KIUST Master Degree or hold an appropriate recognized Bachelor Degree (with Honours) from another college/university or hold an appropriate recognized Master Degree from another college/university. Students enrolling for a Doctorate Degree in the areas of Engineering, Health Sciences, Theology and Religion must have at least either a Bachelor Degree (with Honours) or a Master Degree in the area. However, applicants without a Bachelor Degree (with Honours) or a Master Degree in the area but with an appropriate qualification and experience in the area who feel they can benefit from the course can apply to be considered for admission as a "Preliminary Doctorate Student". The performance of a "Preliminary Doctorate Student" will be assessed at the end of 12 months to see if the status can be changed from "Preliminary Doctorate student" to "Doctorate Student". Students enrolling for a Doctorate Degree in the areas of Engineering, Health Sciences, Theology and Religion must have at least either a Bachelor Degree (with Honours) or a Master Degree in the area.

Regulations Concerning Ph.D. & Doctorate Degree by Research

  • Prospective candidates shall apply for a Doctorate Degree program. The application shall include the proposed topic of the study. If accepted, the candidate will enroll for the Program. Applicants should note that a Doctorate Degree dissertation must contribute to the existing body of knowledge.
  • Each candidate will be supervised by be at least one supervisor appointed by KIUST. If two supervisors are appointed, one of the supervisors will be designated as the Principal supervisor and the second will the Associate supervisor. Each supervisor must be appointed by KIUST and must report to KIUST.
  • Excluding periods of deferment and leave of absence granted by the Doctorate Research Committee, candidates usually take between 3-6 years to complete the Ph.D. or any of KIUST Doctorate Degree programs. If after 6 years a candidate has not yet submitted his or her dissertation for examination, the candidate's status as a student may be terminated unless there are good reasons for not meeting the submission deadline. However, candidates should bear in mind that KIUST is interested in the quality of the dissertation not the number of years spent on the dissertation. The dissertation must contribute to the body of knowledge.
