VIIM's academic activities are designed to make mathematics visible, understandable, exploratory and applicable. Through workshops, lecture series and mathematical talks, VIIM brings together mathematical concepts, real-world problems, visualization, computation, software and emerging technologies.
The activities reflect a distinctive progression from learning mathematical concepts → exploring them computationally → modelling real-world situations → solving problems → interpreting and applying mathematical results.
VIIM conducts National Level Online Live Workshops and Webinars on contemporary themes at the intersection of mathematics, computation and emerging technology.
Current programmes include Computational Thinking & Artificial Intelligence, AI-Assisted Mathematical Modelling, Mathematical Modelling, Operations Research, Optimization, Graph Theory, Simulation and mathematical software.
The VIIM Training Record documents a substantial body of workshops, demonstrations and training programmes conducted over the years.
The programmes cover Graph Theory with GRIN, Operations Research and Optimization using Excel and Solver, Mathematical Modelling, Simulation, Automata Theory with JFLAP, Linear Programming, ICT tools for mathematics teaching and other software-supported mathematical applications.
The record extends from 2012 to the present, including both offline and national-level online programmes.
The Mathematical Talks represent an extensive record of Prof. Dr. Thothathri Venugopal's engagement with students, teachers, researchers and academic communities.
The talks span Mathematical Thinking, Graph Theory, Mathematical Modelling, Operations Research, Optimization, Biomathematics, Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Mathematical Software, Research Methodology, AI and Computational Thinking, among other areas.
A recurring feature is the effort to connect mathematical ideas with visualization, applications, technology and intuitive understanding.
The Lecture Series records extended academic programmes and hands-on engagements, ranging from multi-day national-level workshops to sustained teaching and training programmes.
Recent programmes have focused on AI-Assisted Mathematical Modelling, Operations Research and Optimization, while earlier programmes include Graph Theory with GRIN, Business Optimization, Operations Research, Excel-based decision making, Service Operations Management, Quantitative Analysis for Business and the Methodology of Teaching Mathematics.
